Jef moved to Hamilton, Ontario in 1970. He got his feet wet in the music business, and returned to Newfoundland in late 1971. One of his more positive memories from his Hamilton days was his partnership with local pianist / songwriter Doug Callowhill. They were billed as Dynamite Rose.
