The first musician of note that Jef heard of when he landed in Hamilton was a singer / keyboard player with Ian Thomas’ band Tranquility Base. He would not actually meet her until the recording of his Grey Lord album in 1976 in Toronto, on which she did some tremendous vocal work. Nancy Ward  has never been far from his musical heart over the years, and has been featured on many of his recordings.
